Mariah Carey to Perform at MTV Awards

Mariah Carey has confirmed that she will be performing at this year's MTV Video Music Awards.

The 35 year-old star, who is in the running for three awards, is the first artist confirmed to participate in the event.

The Californian trio Green Day has been given 8 nominations, and Missy Elliot and Gwen Stefani each received six, while Irish rock group U2 has 5 nominations.

The MTV Video Music Awards will be presented on August 28th, live from Miami. P. Diddy will be the host for the evening.
