Superstar Madonna's trip to hospital after falling from her horse in August has caused controversy, after it was claimed that she received preferential treatment.
The 47 year-old mother of two was celebrating her birthday when she took a fall, suffering three cracked ribs, a broken collarbone and a fractured hand. She was rushed to Salisbury District Hospital where she was treated by National Health Service staff, but it was rumoured that she was given a private room. Phil Matthews, a local resident, was among other who have demanded to know whether the star was given special treatment. In a meeting with the Chief Executive of Salisbury Nhs Healthcare Trust which runs the hospital, the claims were dismissed, but this has not gone down well with the residents, who maintain that the point of the NHS is that everyone should be given the same treatment.
Madonna has previously called British hospitals "old and Victorian", choosing to return to America to give birth to son Rocco. |
