| Just as Wallace & Gromit: The Curse of the Were-Rabbit was opening in cinemas around the world this weekend, the company that made the film was mourning the loss of most of many of the figurines that have been used for the animated films in a warehouse fire. Aardman Animation lost sets, figurines and many other souvenirs from the filming of Wallace & Gromit in a fire at the England warehouse. "Today was supposed to be a day of celebration, with the news that Wallace and Gromit had gone in at number one at the U.S. box office, but instead our whole history has been wiped out," said Aardman spokesman Arthur Sheriff. "It's turned out to be a terrible day." The cause of the fire is still under investigation. Company founder Nick Park said that although it is a tragic loss for cinema, events in Asia and other parts of the world are helping him to keep things in perspective. "Even though it is a precious and nostalgic collection and valuable to the company, in light of other tragedies, today isn't a big deal," he said. |
