Madonna has reportedly begged the members of the Swedish group ABBA to allow her to record one of their songs. The American singer wrote a letter to the legendary disco group, asking for permission to use GIMME GIMME GIMME on her next album. The 47 year-old singer is only the second artist to ever receive the privilege to record an ABBA songafter the Fugees were allowed to use a sample of The Name of the Game for their song Rumble In The Jungle in 1996. For Madonna, the ABBA sample will be used in her new song Hang Up. Madonna says, "I had to send my emissary to Stockholm with a letter begging them and telling them how much I love their music." Benny Andersson of ABBA explained their decision to allow Madonna to use their work, he said, "We admire Madonna so much and always have done. She has got guts and has been around for 21 years. That is not bad going." |
