Peter Gabriel has been named as the organiser for the opening ceremonies at the World Cup Soccer finals in Germany. Gabriel, who has only recently become a fan of the sport, is currently working on music for the ceremony, to be held at the Olympic stadium in Berlin. The singer commented on his new position, "I'M not going to be playing [soccer]!" he laughed. "But I was asked to get involved. We're writing some of the music and getting involved in some crazy ideas." According to the artist, the ceremony may be as extravagant as the Olympic games' ceremonies. He added, "I think FIFA just want [to say], 'Anything the Olympics can do, we can do better,'" Gabriel said. "It's a pretty big audience." |
