Brad Pitt, who announced last week that he would be adopting lover Angelina Jolie's two children, faces a tough adoption process, as he is not yet married to the Tomb Raider beauty.
Pitt wants to become legal guardian to Jolie's two adopted children, Maddox, four, and Zahara, 10 months, but faces mountains of paperwork and extra fees, unless he weds his lover first.
A spokesman for the Academy Of California Adoption Lawyers said that there were easier ways of adopting the youngsters: "Frequently what you do if you are in a relationship with someone and you want to adopt their children, you marry them and do a step-parent adoption." Adopting in this way takes around six months, and costs just a quarter of what it will cost for Pitt to become their father.
Jennifer Aniston's ex-husband will also have to submit letters of reference and agree to in-home supervision. If he is successful, the family's names could be changed to Jolie-Pitt |
