Kate Moss’s career has been given a well-timed boost from French Vogue who feature her as a special guest in the December issue of the style bible, under the heading ‘Scandalous Beauty’.
The magazine, which is one of the most prestigious style publications in the world, honoured the supermodel by featuring her as a special guest in the current issue, with a choice of four covers, a Beauty and the Beast-themed fashion spread and several articles related to her career and the London fashion scene. The decision to feature the model was taken in the summer, but the magazine decided to back her following the September cocaine scandal, which threatened to end her career. The magazine also criticised the British press for ‘crucifying’ the model over the drug allegations, at a time when there were many more serious issues worthy of comment. Several high-profile industry figures spoke out in support of Moss, 31, including the head of the PPR group, which owns Gucci and YSL, who said: If you use Kate Moss as a symbol of freedom, of transgression, you have to be honest. You can't use her image to convey those kinds of messages and then be surprised that she breaks the rules in her private life."
She has also signed a £1.2 million contract with Virgin Mobile, and is currently filming the ad in Los Angeles, where she is renting a property with her young daughter. Since leaving an Arizona rehabilitation clinic in October, she has had a string of modelling jobs, in a resounding show of support from the fashion industry. She is thought to have shelved plans to return to the UK for Christmas, and may be staying in the US to work. |
