Tom Cruise has been blasted for his Scientologist beliefs once more, this time by a group of firefighters who are being treated for smoke inhalation following the World Trade Centre disaster in New York, in 2001.
The outspoken star urged rescue service victims of the attack to seek alternative therapies, including his Scientology 'purification rundown' technique, which involves saunas, cooking oil and niacin, instead of inhalers and medication. Cruise set up the New York Rescue Workers Detoxification Project himself, which included a Scientology clinic near Ground Zero. But his methods have been blasted by the medical profession and the victims themselves, who claim they could do more harm than good. According to Female First, Cruise has defended his methods, saying: "More than 500 individuals have recovered health and job fitness through this project." |
