Chris Rock has announced that he has turned down an offer to host the upcoming Oscars awards. The comedian, who was the host last year for the first time, said he was not happy with the controversy over certain jokes. The Academy has not commented on Rock's recent decision, although they have said that they will name a replacement for Rock in the coming weeks. Stars who have taken the role in previous years may be considered, including Whoopi Goldberg (who has hosted four times), Steve Martin (twice), Jay Leno and Conan O'Brien. The 78th Annual Oscar Awards will be presented live from Hollywood on March 5th, 2006. |
