The nominations for the 63rd Golden Globe Awards were announced today, and Brokeback Mountain was among the most-talked about films. Brokeback Mountain, directed by Ang Lee, was nominated in 7 different categories, including best film, best actor for Heath Ledger, and best director. However, there are other notable films in the best film category, including The Constant Gardener, Good Night, and Good Luck, A History of Violence, and Match Point. The films in the best comedy or musical drama category are Mrs. Henderson Presents, Pride and Prejudice, The Producers, The Squid and the Whale and Walk the Line. In the best supporting actor group we find George Clooney (Syriana), Matt Dillon (Crash), Will Ferrell (The Producers), Paul Giamatti (Cinderella Man) and Bob Hoskins (Mrs. Henderson Presents). For best supporting actress we find Scarlett Johansson (Match Point), Shirley MacLaine (In Her Shoes), Frances McDormand (North Country), Rachel Weisz (The Constant Gardener) and Michelle Williams (Brokeback Mountain). Anthony Hopkins will receive the Cecil B. DeMille award for excellence in an acting career. |
