The Beatles's record company, Apple Corps Ltd., has filed lawsuits against EMI and Capital Records for royalty non-payment. According to papers filed in both London and New York, Apple Corps Ltd. claims that they have been underpayed by $52.9 miilion dollars from the companies, who are contractually obliged to pay them royalties. Apple decided to take the problem to the courts, after their attempts to resolve the issue independently were unsuccessful. The lawsuit was filed on behalf of the two surviving Bealtes, Paul McCartney and Ringo Starr, and the successors of John Lennon and George Harrison. Apple Corps was founded by The Beatles in 1968. |
