Keira Knightley is set to star in the film Silk, an adaptation of the novel by Alessandro Baricco. Silk is the story of French silkworm smuggler, Herve Joncour, who travels to Japan to purchase supplies and meets a European woman (Knightley) who is the concubine of a wealthy local man. Although the two don't speak the same language, they embark on a secret relationship through letters. The film will be directed by Canadian filmmaker Francois Girard (The Red Violin). Filming will begin in the spring. |
