Rowling publicly announced that one of the characters from the Harry Potter series, Albus Dumbledore, is gay. The writer revealed this information at Carnegie Hall in New York last Friday during her American tour. This revelation stirred up fans and Rowling received more than 3000 comments on the Harry Potter website. The author was disturbed by people's reaction. She stated, "It has certainly never been news to me that a brave and brilliant man could love other men. He is my character. He is what he is and I have the right to say what I say about him."
