One of the most celebrated musicals, Mamma Mia!, is being adapted for cinema. According to the Hollywood Reporter, theatre director Phillida Lloyd is being considered for the direction of the screen adaptation. Lloyd has directed the stage presentations in both London and New York. The musical, which features 22 ABBA songs, tells the story of the wedding of a young girl in Greece, who has never met her father. She invites all three of the men who could be her father to the ceremony. Since its first showing in London in 1999, the musical has generated more than one billion dollars around the world. |
