Biography - Kurt Cobain | Published by dcob | Kurt Cobain's childhood idols were The Beatles, the Sex Pistols and Kiss. He bought his fist guitar when he was fourteen, and later joined a group called The Melvins, in Seattle. Passionate about music, he never finished his studies and had trouble holding down a job.
In 1986 he formed the grunge band Nirvana with Krist Novoselic and they were soon joined by drummer, Dave Grohl. Although their second album 'Nevermind' (1991) was met with huge success, Cobain's new found fame troubled him and he began to use morphine and heroine.
In 1992 he married Courtney Love, lead singer of 'Hole' and together they had a daughter, Francis Bean. The following year Cobain was admitted to rehab for his heroine addiction.
In 1994 Nirvana released 'In Utero' and, whilst the band were on tour, Cobain fell into a coma. When he awoke, he discharged himself from hospital and returned home. He was found three days later, with a bullet in his head. He was twenty-seven years old.
Already an icon, Kurt Cobain became a legend, and Nirvana with him. |
