Biography - Paul Bettany |  Published by tkmpaulbettany | Paul Bettany was born 27 May 1971 into a theatrical family, and was brought up in London. After studying drama, he went to the West End to join the cast of 'An Inspector Calls', and acted for a year with the Royal Shakespeare Company. In 2001 he starred as Geoffry Chaucer in 'A Knight's Tale' followed by 'A Beautiful Mind' alongside Russell Crowe and his wife, Jennifer Connelly. 2003 was also a busy year for Bettany, with Lars Von Trier's 'Dogville' co-starring Nicole Kidman, and Russell Crowe's 'Master and Commander', in which he played the ship's doctor. His most recent film, 'Wimbledon' saw him as an ailing tennis pro, Peter Colt who falls for the up-and-coming Lizzie Bradbury (Kirsten Dunst). Bettany has two sons (one of them from his first marriage to Jennifer Connelly) and admits wanting a large family. He plays the guitar, and used to busk on Westminster Bridge. |
