Mark Wahlberg has come a long way since the days of Marky Mark and the Funky Bunch! Born in Massachusetts, he started US boy band New Kids on the Block with brother Donnie Walhberg before moving on to make two albums with hip-hop band the Funky Bunch. His first film, 'Renaissance Man' came out in 1994, a year before 'The Basketball Diaries', with Leonardo DiCaprio. His big break came in 1997, with the role of Dirk Diggler in 'Boogie Nights', which boosted his reputation in the film world. He went on to make 'Planet of the Apes' and take several roles opposite George Clooney, before make the Italian Job films and moving behind the camera to produce his own.
