We all know a few reality TV shows that can be a little over the top (Jersey Shore, we're looking at you), but this new Lifetime series promises to take things to a whole new level. Based on a viral YouTube video, this new reality show will follow young couples who take natural birth to the next step by having their child out in the wild with no help from doctors. Just WTF?

YouTube user BirthInNature has only posted one video, but it has had over 20 million views. The video shows a mother giving birth to her child in a tropical stream, without the help of doctors or midwives.

This video gave Lifetime an idea: create a reality TV show, called Born In The Wild, of young couples giving natural birth in the wild. Genius.

The press release for the new show presents a question: "What happens when the craziest experience of a woman’s life becomes truly wild, and soon-to-be parents decide to take on an unassisted birth in the outdoors?"

Though Lifetime has assured people that the presence of the television crew will help keep the young mother and baby safe, there will be no doctors to help. The show has also assured everyone that no new mothers will be allowed to participate, leaving the natural birth only for experienced mothers.

Does this new reality series sound like an interesting, dramatic experiment, or like some critics say, could it be the beginning of a new and dangerous trend that could place both mother and baby in serious danger? Let us know @sofeminineUK!
