Wine of the Week: Lanson Rose Label Brut Rosé Champagne

Wine of the Week: Lanson Rose Label Brut Rosé (special edition) Champagne Alc. 12.5% from £32.99 - Tesco/Waitrose

This week we're going sparkly. The champagne on offer is so Sex and the City! A bright pink special edition bottle of Brut Rosé from prestigeous Lanson. In case you don't know, the 'Brut' part refers to the wine's sweetness dictated by the amount of sugar added to the champers after the second fermenatation and ageing process. Brut is the most common at less than 15g of sugar per litre... so now you know!

Well, first of all the bottle is amazing! I'm not overly given to girlie admiration of excessive pink but, I admit it, I'm seduced. The plonk itself is good. A nice scent, pretty light salmon in colour and a subtle taste. This would be a great thing to pop open before a girlie night in or out!

I'm fussy about Champagne. I've been known to say that I only like expensive Champagne because I really think you get what you pay for with bubbles. This one is lovely though! The more I sip it, the more I like it. In fact I just realised that I actually love it. It gets better and better. I'm placing at the bottom of the elite but with me that's still a great result!

This one isn't setting my world aflame. It's got the requiste sweet to sour in the mouth but the flavours are just a little too subtle for me. However it doesn't taste cheap and it's perfectly drinkable - would I have a second glass? Sure!
