For some of us, we spend our lives going to great lengths to ensure that we don’t get pregnant. But then when we decide it’s the right time to have a baby, we’re shocked to find that we don’t automatically get pregnant. Even if you’re finally ready for a kid – you’re in a loving relationship and/or financially stable enough for a child – sometimes it takes a while to get pregnant.

While it’s nothing to worry about, there are ways which can you help the process along, which don’t require taking hormones or signing up to expensive fertility treatments.

Tracking your fertility so that you have a better knowledge of when your estrogen is rising and when it’s easiest to naturally fall pregnant, takes away the stress and worry that most couples experience when faced with problems getting pregnant.

With this in mind Clearblue have launched a digital ovulation test that also has a dual hormone indicator, meaning that you can easily identify the four best days in your cycle to get pregnant.

Using simple urine tests, it tracks 2 fertility hormones instead of normal ovulation tests which only trace 1, allowing the user to identify the widest window of fertile days - so you have the best chance of getting pregnant.

Better yet, the Clearblue Digital Ovulation Test with Dual Hormone Indicator also adapts to a woman’s personal hormone profile every time its used because of its unique, smart algorithm, making it impossible to miss the most fertile days.

Clearblue Expert, GP Dr. Alex Vass, says: “Planning to get pregnant is one of the most exciting events in a woman’s life. It is not only important to be psychologically and economically prepared - identifying the best days to conceive naturally and without wasting time is becoming more important than ever as women’s lives get busier.”

“Identifying the widest fertility window gives women more opportunities to conceive naturally. Using an ovulation test from the outset, along with the other life-changes she begins – such as taking vitamins and folic acid, exercising and eating healthily – can significantly increase her chance of conceiving sooner.”

If you decide to use ovulation tests to help with pregnancy, ideally they should be done once a day, usually in the morning - your first morning pee if you will. Start from between day 5 and day 20 of your cycle, depending on your cycle length to ensure you don’t miss the best days to get pregnant naturally – most tests come in one-month or two-month packs.

Most importantly relax – It’s easy to get anxious and worried about conceiving, but it will actually make it harder to get pregnant in the long run.

And have fun on the journey to get pregnant – it’s supposed to be the start of something wonderful after all!

The Clearblue Digital Ovulation Test Kit is available from Boots, priced £21.59.
