Oxford Dictionaries Word of the Year Is The Crying Laughing Emoji And We Are DONE

Oxford, one of the most famous, established and intelligent Universities in the world, just announced that their 'word of the year' is the tear of joy emoji. Yes, this year the powers that be have declared that the word of the year isn't actually a word. It doesn't make ANY SENSE THOUGH!

Apparently the '😂' won as Oxford Dictionary experts described the symbol as: "embod[ying] a core aspect of living in a digital world that is visually driven, emotionally expressive, and obsessively immediate".

Yeah...

Needless to say, the news was not taken well...

We think this one sums it up best.

But when you think about it, how surprising is this really? Last year the winning word for 'vape', for crying out loud! The year before that it is 'selfie'. If we're completely honest, it was only a matter of time before the word stopped becoming a word at all. Even if this is ridiculously hilarious. 😂

Do you think the new word is worthy of using the tears of joy emoji? Tweet us @sofeminineUK! 😂
