With the clocks due to go back on Sunday morning, we’re all set for shorter days and more hours of darkness. Add to that we’re almost into November and it’s hardly surprising temperatures are dropping.
We can see freezing cold and snow in our near future so it’s time to dig out the warm clothes, boots and thick socks that are essential for winter.
While boots are great for work, the school run and trips to town, they’re not that practical for walking the dog, wet weather hikes, or for the equestrians among us, turning out the horses.

What are neoprene boots?
If all you’ve ever experienced are traditional rubber wellies, the ones that require a long pair of snuggly socks in order to feel comfortable, then you’re in for a welcome shock.
We can honestly say that neoprene wellies and boots are a gamechanger when it comes to keeping your feet warm and toasty in winter.
We’re big fans of Muck Boots and haven’t found anything warmer, but they cost £100 plus! So these lined neoprene versions from Aldi are both a bargain and a must-have for the winter months.

Why we like Aldi’s versions
First off, the price is a massive attraction. If you’ve never tried neoprene before then these provide an affordable introduction.
The bottom half of the boots are rubber, as with traditional wellingtons, but the sock sections are made from neoprene, a synthetic material with great thermal qualities.
Inside, there’s a fleece lining and an EVA insole, which provides cushioning and support, absorbing the shock felt as your feet hit the ground while you walk.
The rubber outsole has a chunky grip that’s perfect for wintery weather and will help keep you upright on frosty paths. And if it rains, no need to worry as neoprene is also waterproof!
