Celebs like to make a fashion statement and they also like to help a good cause, which is why a whole host of them have donned red ribbon brooches for World AIDS Day. Fashion presenter Gok Wan has gone that one step further and he’s also shot a lovely little video encouraging everyone to “ribbon up” with the eye-catching accessories.

Celebrity stylist Gok Wan stars in a tongue-in-cheek video for National AIDS Trust to promote their selection of red ribbon brooches for World AIDS Day.

In the parody Gok jokingly compliments himself on his face, his hair, his clothes, but then the fashion consultant realises there’s something missing…his red ribbon pin.

He says to the camera: “Actually it doesn’t matter what you wear on World AIDS Day, as long as you’re wearing your ribbon.”

They’ve had a stylish update this year, so as well as the traditional red sparkly ribbon brooch they’ve also made a modern geometric wooden ribbon designed by UK designer Becky Hogg.

The stars evidently can’t keep their hands-off them with Gary Barlow modelling his on the X Factor, as well as presenter Jameela Jamil and Corrie star Charlie Condu being spotted in theirs.

They’ve also gone down a storm with Countryfile presenter Julia Bradbury, actor Alan Cumming, Embarrassing Bodies Dr Christian Jessen and comedy actress Su Pollard.

World AIDS Day is a high-profile, global event taking place on 1 December to raise awareness and support those living with HIV.
