The fact that over 40% of sexually assaulted minors have been abused by a family member is not a statistic that sits comfortably with anyone. One artist, who was motivated after hearing her friend's harrowing story, decided to do something about it...

Sian Hoax, a Middle Eastern Artist, has used images of children's favourite Disney princesses being kissed by their fathers to send a shocking message about rape.

In a statement on her website, Hoax says the project is "an awareness campaign targeting minors who have been subject to sexual abuse by a family member. The aim of the poster series is to encourage victims to report their cases in order for the authorities to prevent it from happening again."

But is using Disney Princesses the right way to do it? We'll let you decide.

What do you think of the posters? A great way to get the message out there or a step too far? Tweet us at @sofeminineUK.
