The talented, statuesque force of nature, L'Wren Scott, died yesterday morning of an apparent suicide, and the fashion world is at a standstill. Friends and family have released an outpouring of grief and shock at the model-turned-designer's untimely end. In life, L'Wren was a woman who commanded attention and delivered pearls of wisdom that inspired those around her.

L'Wren Scott, born Laura Luann Bambrough, was the longtime girlfriend of Rolling Stones rocker, Mick Jagger, but he was the one who clearly hit the jackpot. The raven-haired beauty stood tall at 6'3'' and it came as no surprise to anyone that she would take that stunning frame into a successful modeling career throughout the eighties. Although she played the part well, she admitted in 2011 to the Daily Telegraph that, as model, "[she] didn't particularly like being objectified" (hear, hear!) and transitioned into styling.

In the mid-nineties, she began working with the infamous Herb Ritts on Vogue and Rolling Stone shoots, revealing another talented part of herself to fashion insiders. Her sartorial expertise quickly drew in a following of devoted celebs, including Sarah Jessica Parker, Michelle Obama, and Nicole Kidman. She eventually started her own line in 2006 that created different iterations of the little black dress. She went on to design handbags, accessories, and her well-known, loose, whimsical gowns that complimented every woman's body.

L'Wren had a playful, unapologetic approach to life that was reflected in her interviews. Below are our favorite L'Wren words from the designer who will be deeply missed.
