Downton Abbey: Top ten facts you never knew

Sofeminine can’t get enough of Downton Abbey and in honour of the third series of Julian Fellowes’ hit period drama reaching its conclusion, we’ve collected a few facts about the much-loved ITV show.

Some of them are sure to make the Countess of Grantham speechless in surprise - or maybe not…

Downton Abbey is filmed at Highclere Castle, which is set on 1,000 acres in Hampshire.

The estate is actually open to the public during the summer, so you can visit the very rooms where the Crawley family reside and pretend to pop by for afternoon tea with Lady Mary.

Queen Elizabeth herself has been a frequent overnight visitor to the castle in years past.
