Why The Canary Islands Beaches Are The Ultimate Place To Say "I Do"

People think that the Eiffel tower, Niagra Falls or the London Eye are among the most romantic places to propose and get hitched, right? WRONG. Who needs a worn out cliche when you can have the sandy, warm beaches of the Canary islands? Here's why popping the question or tying the knot in the Canary Islands is simply magical...

Close your eyes and dream with us for a moment dear reader. You are walking along a sandy beach, but not just any sandy beach. This sand is WHITE, like the kind you see in films about hidden paradises. You stop to admire the sunset, and remark on the fact that you are still warm because the weather is SO beautiful, when something catches your eye. A message has been scrawled across that perfect, soft sand spelling out "Will you marry me?". You've seen it in movies but now you're living it! You're being proposed to in the single most romantic way possible and yup, it's all happening on the Canary Islands.

Since we are so confident that THIS is the place where your special moments need to happen, we want to help you unveil the Canary Islands most romantic corners. So, what are you waiting for? Take part in the comp. Your dream wedding may become a reality sooner than you expect. If you still haven’t made up your mind, just take a look at the beaches we’re talking about below...

-Playa Papagayo, Playa Blanca & El Pozo in Lanzarote. Their waters are in a stunning Los Ajaches nature reserve. With their sandbanks full of fish and crystal clear water, you'll want to stay there forever.

-Playa de Santiago on La Gomera. If you like the island’s volcanic landscape and scuba diving, then this is the destination for you.

Suggestion: Why not arrange a snorkelling trip and prepare a romantic message under the sea? When you look down at the seabed, success is pretty much guaranteed!

-Maspalomas and its sand dunes. At sunset, when the sand is still warm, strolling barefoot along the beach with your better half will be unforgettable. It is one of the most photographed beaches in Spain due to its famous white sand dunes, and is the perfect place for a couple in love.

-Playa de Cofete, the wildest and most intimate spot on Fuerteventura. This beach is part of Jandía nature reserve. Although you need an SUV to get there, it’s a paradise you must visit at least once in your lifetime.

-Playa Valle Gran Rey is our favourite beach on La Gomera. Try flying a kite down the coast, it is simply perfect.

-Cala de Tacorón, El Hierro. An Atlantic jewel to be enjoyed all year round in the calmest part of the archipelago. An unforgettable setting where sea blues mix with volcanic blacks and multiple ochres and reds of the slopes of El Julán. Just the place for a relaxing dip in the sea!

-El Charco Azul, El Hierro is a natural pool overlooking the Atlantic. It has steps for easy access, standing at sea level, just 20 minutes from the car. You’ve never seen anything like this before!

-El Puertito, a series of small coves sheltered by a tiny fishing jetty, making it picturesque and very romantic.

-El Arenal, Tenerife’s least frequented beach. You’ll be fascinated by its black sands. Look it up on Google Maps, and you’ll find this secret beach between Punta del Hidalgo and Bajamar, on the north of the island.
