THIS Is How To Become An Instagram Sensation: How Artist Kalen Hollomon Is Changing The Face Of Fashion

If Instagram is for inspiration you can't go wrong by following Kalen Holloman whose subversive approach to fashion imagery is something every style savvy girl NEEDS to see.

In a social media age where everyone is trying their darn hardest to stand out, it's practically impossible to leave a true mark. Yet, through the Valencia haze of it all, New York photographer Kalen Hollomon managed to use Instagram to stand head and shoulders above most. He currently has upwards of 70,000 followers on the popular photosharing app; a feat that is certainly nothing to scoff at. In fact, it landed him a gig with Vogue.

How did he manage to garner such a massive following? It has everything to do with his subversive collage work.

Hollomon's talents reside in his impeccable ability to mix high-brow and low-brow images into an entirely new image. Take the above image of Cara Delevingne's Chanel spread merged with some creepy looking dude in the bathroom for instance. Or how about a cut-out Anna Wintour sitting cross-legged in a shoddy Chinatown store? Brilliant.

As for the power of social media, he told Independent, "Instagram has become an amazing tool for photographers to get work out there and get exposure. Before, I didn’t have 70,000 people looking at my work every day, and now I do so it’s amazing.”

Perhaps what makes Hollomon's feed so intriguing is the fact his images are mainly shot with his iPhone. He spends his days traipsing through New York with his cut-outs, ready to snap away at a moment's notice. Whatever it is, I'm a fan (and am now following).
