Julien Macdonald London Fashion Week - autumn/winter 2010 www.julienmacdonald.com

Held in the Banqueting House at Whitehall, Macdonald’s show was awash with chunky knits as the Welsh designer reverted back to his knitwear roots. Cream-coloured cardigans with (sigh) fur hoods then made way for camel military coats, worn with biker boots.

In fabulous juxtaposition the show continued from chunk to slink with barely-there, cobweb-inspired dresses in pale pink, nudes, black and midnight blue. The underwear as outerwear trend continues.

MacDonald's wonderful use of wools and robust texture in contrast to the wispy, flirty sheer dresses was a highlight. Alan Carr, Olivia Palermo and Naomie Harris seemed to like it too.
