Forget The Man Bun. 2016 Is The Year Of The Man Braid.

by Emmy Griffiths Published on 19 January 2016

We thought we'd seen everything from hipster men at this point. We smiled politely when they shoved glitter into their beards. We nodded silently when they pulled their hair into microscopic man buns. But...man braids? REALLY? This is one hipster hairstyle we're not sure we can react kindly to...

Just when you thought the short back and sides were sneaking their way back in and making us all comfortable again, the Instagram trend #manbraids turned that all around with the new trend of taking your longish hair (most likely from copiously wearing a man bun in 2015) and french braiding it.

In a twisted sort of way, we're very impressed. French braids are tricky at the best of time, but these guys are working with short(ish) hair and styling it themselves. Maybe they could teach us how to do it properly?

When they've finished taking selfies of their brand new do, that is.

Some of the man braid fans have even taken to dying their new pretty plait in bright colours, just in case you didn't already know that they have the edge on what's cool in the ole' hair world.

Here are some of our favourites...
