It's a cruel fact of life that as you age your skin ages with you. If you're fighting against puffy eyes and tired-looking skin then you've come to the right place. We've discovered five simple steps you can take to make yourself look younger instantly. Get ready to fool them all!

Fine lines, deep-set wrinkles, dehydrated eye zones; these are the kind of things everyone wants to conceal once they hit a certain birthday, but knowing how to change up your tried and tested hair, make-up and skincare routine as time ticks by is definitely a skill worth mastering.

With a little help from the experts we've found five ways to look younger instantly to help you turn back the complexion clock. And there's not a needle in sight!

1. The HydraFacial

Jill Zander, founder of the Skin Rejuvenation Clinic, says: "For radiant and youthful skin, the HydraFacial really does work wonders! This hardworking facial is the only hydradermabrasion procedure that combines cleansing, exfoliation, extraction, hydration and antioxidant protection all in one treatment. After just one HydraFacial, skin will be left plumped, dewy and glowing with youthful radiance. My clients literally leave glowing."

That's an all-in-one skincare MOT you can't refuse!

2. Perfect your pout

"As the most animated part of your face, your mouth is a natural focal point. Lips thin and lose volume as we age, so a good lip plumper like Ormedic Lip Complex can help restore their youthful volume," says Jill.

She also recommends choosing a lipstick that contains anti-ageing ingredients like hyaluronic acid which hydrates and plumps lips.

She adds: "Skip lip colours that are too dark and drain the colour from the face. Instead choose colours with a hint of pink to add instant youth and brighten the face."

3. Drink your way to younger-looking skin

Paul Banwell, cosmetic surgeon and skincare expert, says: "Skincare is not just about what you put on your skin, but addressing it from the inside out. You can rebuild and enhance the collagen structure in the dermis, the inner layer of your skin, from within by drinking a nutrient rich drink like Skinade. You really start to notice the difference in your skin within a matter of days and most people see impressive results after just two weeks."

Drinking plenty of water can also help to keep your skin hydrated, reduce the appearance of wrinkles and give you a youthful glow. Suddenly that kitchen tap seems so appealing.

While the results might not be 100 percent instant, this is one beauty habit you've got to adopt.

We're huge advocates of the beauty powers of water at sofeminine - so don't forget to have your five to eight glasses a day for plumper-looking skin. If you're not sure how much water you should be drinking check out this amazing hydration calculator!

4. Erase the years with a new hairstyle

It's a well-known fact that the wrong hairstyle can add years to your look.

Paul says, "The right hairstyle or cut can be a powerful anti-ager. If your hair colour and cut doesn’t complement your skin tone and facial features, it could age you. As we mature, our skin loses pigment, so your hair colour has to compensate to complement your skin tone.

"If your hair is too dark you’ll look pale, and if it’s too light it’ll wash you out completely. Rule of thumb: If you’re a brunette, lighten your base colour one shade; if you’re a blonde, go one shade darker. Adding a fringe can also help disguise forehead wrinkles and also make hair appear thicker."

Look to celebs like Zooey Deschanel and Taylor Swift for the perfect bangs.

5. Make-up for your mistakes

Breaking your bad make-up habits can also help rejuvenate your pores. As you age, shimmery eyeshadows and a bold red lip may seem like the in thing to-do but these products can draw attention to fine lines and create a crepey effect.

Celebrity make-up artist Rachel Wood fills us in on her tricks and tips: "Preparing the skin with a good illuminating primer is always a great trick. I love Illamasqua's satin primer as it gives a veil of glow on the face without looking too greasy or shimmery.

"When I'm helping my more mature clients achieve a youthful appearance I like to start by applying a light to medium coverage foundation that isn't too drying, Lift Lumiere by Chanel is pretty amazing. My trick is to buff it into the skin using upwards circles with a buffer brush, they really move the foundation well into the skin giving a polished finish."

And before you reach for the bronzer, swap it for an English rose blush instead.

She says: "An apricot/coral blush applied onto the apples of the cheeks and swept into the cheekbone looks great on almost all skin tones and will add to the youthful glow of the skin.

"Another great tip is to always curl your lashes before mascara as it gives a more wide-eyed, younger-looking appearance. Finish with a thickening lash mascara like Benefit's BADgal lash or go that bit further and add a natural false lash. I adore Velour brand lashes - they are cruelty free and made from mink hairs so they don't look plastic, they appear much more natural and blend beautifully in with your own lashes."
