7 Cosmetic Surgery Facts You Definitely Didn't Know

From the Kylie Jenner lip-filler obsession to becoming a nation hooked on Instagram butts and designer vaginas, cosmetic surgery is one big business. With this year marking the 100th birthday of plastic surgery, it's only right we take a look at some of the hard, if a little random, facts and figures surrounding boobs, bums and labias.

  1. · Breast is still best

  3. · Women and cosmetic surgery
  4. · Lip filler truths
  5. · Designer vaginas are on the rise

  7. · Eyes on the guys

1. Breast is still best

OK, so it's not that shocking but BAAPS reported breast augmentation still holds the top spot for the most popular surgical procedure among women, with 8,609 breast augmentation procedures being carried out in the UK alone in 2014.

Dr. Massimiliano (Max) Marcellino has seen a 100% increase in breast augmentations so far this year. Between Jan-June 2015 alone, he performed as many surgeries as he normally does in a year but there’s been one distinct difference. Women are no longer requesting the DD/E cups popular in 2013 and opting for a smaller full C or D bra size, reflecting a more European body shape and following in the footsteps of celebrities such as Victoria Beckham, Denise Richards and Katie Price, who are reported to have reduced the size of their implants.

2. A breast implant can be inserted one of two ways. Two.

Breasts can be made larger by placing an implant either under the breast tissue or behind the muscle on which the breast lies.

3. Women and cosmetic surgery

According to BAAPS figures, women had 91% of all cosmetic procedures last year. We expected it to be a high percentage but that's basically all of them.

4. Lip filler truths

Lip filler using hyaluronic acid is the most natural AND it’s temporary. If you don’t like results a surgeon can inject hyaluronidase to dissolve the lip filler. No more trout pout bodge jobs.

And, here's another pearl of wisdom, if you stop getting lip filler there’s a chance your lips could remain naturally fuller due to the HA kickstarting production in that area.

5. Designer vaginas are on the rise

Vaginal rejuvenation is big business. In 2013, more than 2,000 women had labiaplasties on the NHS alone and statistics show that the average age of patients has dropped from 35 to 28, with more women now choosing to have surgery for aesthetic rather than medical reasons. We blame porn.

6. Booty call

The Kim Kardashian/Jen Selter effect is well and truly taking over because apparently we're all delirious for big derrieres. Last year, The Health Site reported that 45% of all bottom enhancing procedures over the last year had been inspired by Kim K, a static that's sure to rise when this year's annual audit is released...and Kim K gets an even bigger butt. JOKES.

7. Eyes on the guys

For men, it's more about looking after their peepers now with BAAPS revealing eyelid surgery is taking over nose jobs as the most popular operation in men. Turns out the do care about losing their youthful looks.
